Review: Wonder Woman 2011 Pilot

October 30, 2011 at 5:40 pm by Paul

Acting: ***   Effects: ***   Story: **-1/2   Casting: ****

On Saturday night, I decided to finally sit down and see this travesty that NBC called ‘Wonder Woman.”  Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I grew up watching the show live; I collected (and still do) the comic books. Been there at the end when she died at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths to be resurrected back in 1986 by George Perez in a totally new take on the origin.  She’s always been my favorite character. So, call me a little biased, but I know my Wonder Woman, I know what would work and what would not.

Get The Picture, Pats!

October 3, 2011 at 11:20 pm by Paul

The upcoming reunion specials for British comedy “Absolutely Fabulous” are well underway. EW posted first look photos of Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders) on set, doing two of the three things they do best: shopping and riding in limos (alcoholic beverages are conspicuously absent…)

As previously reported, three “AbFab” specials will start rolling out in early 2012 on BBC America and Logo — which recently started airing the original series in syndication.

“Absolutely Fabulous” originally premiered in 1992 and has since aired a total of five spread out seasons. Saunders, who also created the series, last appeared on screen with Lumley in 2006 for British comedy “Clatterford.” (ZAP2IT.com)

Banking Debit Card Fees

October 1, 2011 at 9:28 pm by Paul

So you all are aware by today, I hope, on how the banks deem it necessary to start charging us for the use of THEIR debit cards to access OUR money in their banks. Remember, it was the banks that touted umpteen years ago how faster and convenient it was to use debit cards.

Even More, Sweetie!

August 31, 2011 at 1:54 pm by Paul

You can’t keep the Ab Fab ladies down. The Absolutely Fabulous TV show initially ran for three seasons, from 1992 until 1995, and was capped by a two-part TV-movie finale in 1996. It was revived in 2001 for two more seasons, another TV movie, and an hour-long special in 2004. Though there have been talks of doing an American version, none have gotten off the ground. The UK show and characters remain very popular today, both here and overseas.

AbFab is Back, Sweetie!

August 29, 2011 at 5:15 pm by Paul

It’s official, sweetie, darlings: BBC America and Logo are reviving the cult comedy Absolutely Fabulous for three new specials, it was announced Monday. Ab Fab creator Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley will reprise their aforementioned roles as the boozy broad and her gal pal. I believe there is a special to run on Christmas and then the other two will run after the Olympics. Sad it’s only 3 total.

On Friday, July 22, I went to the United Center to see Cirque Du Soleil, “OVO” a touring show from the world-famous french “circus.” For those not familiar with the traveling shows, They resemble a regular circus, complete with a bigtop where the main show takes place, along with a smaller tent that is used for merchandising, branding and food.

Whales

June 19, 2011 at 1:41 pm by Paul

On Sunday, June 19, I made a visit to the Field Museum. It had been a long time since I made a visit.

Went to go see “Whales, Giants of the Deep”. It’s a traveling exhibit from New Zealand.

As you walk through in the first part, you are shown the evolution of whales (did u know they originated on land?) from the early millions ago to day.

The second part talks about whaling from the early days to today.

Overall, an interesting exhibit. But is it something that will sustain the museum as they have money woes these days.

The Call From CTA!

June 7, 2011 at 12:10 pm by Paul

In relation to my email yesterday, regarding the blog post about poeple moving back, I ctually received a phone call from the CTA today.

The gentleman was understanding, and we both knew there most likely was nothing that could really be done, but he did seem to like my idea of having a camera installed in the back section – so when a driver is a stop taking on people, he can actually SEE how much room is still in back for all those people t move back.

Ah well, don’t know if anything will change, but it was nice to be recognized for a change!

June 6, 2011 at 9:58 pm by Paul

(Actual email sent to CTA — 6 buses I COULD have taken but it was too hard to get on!)

Dear CTA:

When it takes a total of 45 minutes to get home from Michigan and Huron to Belmont and Sheridan because I had to wait almost 35 minutes to get on bus because no one would move back… We have a major problem.
