The upcoming reunion specials for British comedy “Absolutely Fabulous” are well underway. EW posted first look photos of Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders) on set, doing two of the three things they do best: shopping and riding in limos (alcoholic beverages are conspicuously absent…)
You can’t keep the Ab Fab ladies down. The Absolutely Fabulous TV show initially ran for three seasons, from 1992 until 1995, and was capped by a two-part TV-movie finale in 1996. It was revived in 2001 for two more seasons, another TV movie, and an hour-long special in 2004. Though there have been talks of doing an American version, none have gotten off the ground. The UK show and characters remain very popular today, both here and overseas.
It’s official, sweetie, darlings: BBC America and Logo are reviving the cult comedy Absolutely Fabulous for three new specials, it was announced Monday. Ab Fab creator Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley will reprise their aforementioned roles as the boozy broad and her gal pal. I believe there is a special to run on Christmas and then the other two will run after the Olympics. Sad it’s only 3 total.
