Los Gatos 2011: Friday

Friday was another wonderful dat is Los Gatos. Once again, I had a wake-up call from Gee, the black poodle of the house. Today was a day where we ran around and actually “got things done!”

First order of business was to take the set of tea cups from Grandma Gen to The UPS Store to be shipped home. These are one-of-a-kind cups actually from England, but as beautiful and delicate as they are, the only way to safely do this was to have each piece wrapped and shipped back to Chicago in a sturdy box.  These should arrive home by Thursday, June 30th.

Our second run was to Fry’s Electronics where we get to be geeky again. I always enjoy going to this store – you never know what you might find there on sale (I was lucky there and found a few DVDs on sale!)

Our third port of call was Santana Row – the outside shopping mall in San Jose. We happened to have lunch at a nice little Mexican restaurant called Consuelo Mexican Bistro (it also was on Open Table, so i was able to make a reservation and get points for it at the same time! LOL).  I’m not a big Mexican food connoisseur, but the meal I had was decent, also 1/2-off for lunch to boot!

The rest of the day was spent finding some place for me to get over-priced sun-shield to cover the rest of my baked-lobster arms and face (luckily I brought my hat this time, so I was safe “up there” and shopping. Robert picked up a beautiful pair of Italian shoes. Very intricately designed, more of a “show shoe” than something you’d want to wear, IMHO.

Our evening was then off to Black Angus Steak House. Grandma Gen wanted to take us out for dinner – and who was I to say no to a free meal — no, honestly, I usually talk her out of it and pay the bill, but this time she was adamant (it also didn’t make things any better that I sitting next to her and would probably get dinged in the head with the cane if I tried to pay for it this time! LOL). This was also our last night in Los Gatos, so it was nice to have this meal.
